A failed university is a university that has degraded to a point where basic conditions and responsibilities of a university no longer function properly. Likewise, when a university weakens and its standard of education declines, it introduces the possibility of total university failure. The Times Antimony characterizes a failed state as having the following characteristics:
- Inferior teaching standards. Sometimes lectures can even be replaced by computer screen readers used by blind people.
- Very limited research ability. These universities often produce a large amount of useless publications with patterns similar to cooking.
- Failure to provide students with the services that universities should have.
- Poor management, serious bureaucracy, and low efficiency. Sometimes school officials even ask for bribes to get things done.
- Although the degrees offered are legal, they are often not recognized by other institutions or companies.
Usually the characteristics of a failed university will be reflected in the failures of teaching, research, administration, etc. Poor management is particularly significant. In addition to the above characteristics, failed universities often have widespread corruption and crimes, and there are a large number of students who have dropped out, transferred to other schools, or even committed suicide.
It is highly debatable in the academic community about the extent to which it is necessary to avoid being considered a failed university. In addition, claiming that a university is "failed" is generally controversial, and failure universities themselves generally refuse to admit.
