汞星采取议会君主制，国家元首为国王。国王一旦即位，就可以终身身为国王（除非退位）。国王死后或者退位后，在其子孙中全民投票选举继承人（如果只有一个子女则直接世袭）。2022年3月10日，有人采访水银一世本人时，他说：“我作为水银王国的开国君主，已经做出了很多贡献，享受了很多东西了，今年我决定退位。”汞星的国王选举于同日开始，现在已经在2022年3月20日结束，但结果还要等到2022年9月15日才能公布。
